Behaviour that Doesn't Appear Rational

In my book, Learning to Love, you'll find a description of how persistent Behavioural Loop Patterns are created within the first years of a person's life. 

These patterns quickly 'fossilise' and most remain unchanged for the duration of a person's life: 

 - When we see a smile, we reflexively know how to respond. 

 - When we detect signs of irritation, anxiety or anger, our nervous system automatically responds, drawing on the reflexes developed while during infancy.

So, when conflict arises, the adult bodies that we see obscure an invisible reality in which these nervous systems are, in fact, operating on 'software' that was 'installed' decades earlier, while the parties were still infants. 

During conflict, these individuals are trapped in a regressed state and that's one of the reasons why it's often characterised as 'behaving like children'.

In Learning to Love, I describe:

- how this system  evolved to ensure the infant's safety;

- how these maladaptive patterns 'fossilised' to resist change;

- how they handicap us when we're interacting as adults;

- what we can do to cultivate the safety necessary  to replace these Behavioural Loop Patterns (B-Loops) with healthier patterns.

My work with businesses, organisations and families involves the design and implemention of a safety program tailored to eliminate all the stress and the tension in that environment.

This is accomplished using a combination or education, consulting, mediation and coaching. 

Much of my success can be attributed to:

1.  My ability to identify and to work with the implicit-rationale obcured behind seemingly-irrational behaviour.
